Messy play

In the Kōwhai Room the tamariki have been enjoying exploring a variety of different messy play experiences.  These experiences cause great delight as they get to delve hands in to different textures and explore with no set objective in  mind.  Lots of squishing, squelching and dripping of the mess occurs causing big squeals of delight from the Tamariki as they see, feel and sometimes even taste this happening. Messy play allows our tamariki to use their natural curiosity to participate in open-ended exploration of materials and their properties.  At the same time tamariki are developing their cognitive skills such as motor, language and social skills.  Below are some photos of the different messy play experiences our tamariki have been engaging in.
