Work and Income New Zealand (WINZ)

Childcare subsidies are available for families with children attending childcare facilities. It is designed to ensure that all families can afford quality childcare. A formula is used to calculate what part of the fee each family will pay. This fee depends on the family income, so not all families will be eligible.

It is important to note that WINZ only pays for the hours that a child attends a preschool, not the booked time, so you need to be aware that any extra fees incurred not covered by your subsidy will be recovered through parent fees.

Full fees are to be paid until subsidy begins.

It is your responsibility to make sure that childcare subsidy renewals and changes in circumstances (eg hours booked or income levels) are notified directly to WINZ.
