Daily Requirements

Clothing

requirements

Please dress your child in comfortable, easy to wash play clothes for exploration and creative endeavours. We suggest that children bring a named bag with a complete change of clothes which are clearly named.

Infants, toddlers and children in nappies need to bring 4 to 5 nappies for the day and children who are being toilet trained will need extra underpants and shorts/trousers/dresses. The Nursery and Preschool have a supply of disposal nappies on hand and if these are used they will be charged out to you at $1 per nappy.

For winter months we suggest a woollen hat, gumboots and jacket and for the summer months a well fitting protective sunhat.

The centre has a lost property box for misplaced clothes located in the entrance areas of each school.

A safety approved sunscreen will be provided by the centre. If children have allergies, parents are to supply appropriate sunscreen for their child.

Meals

Children must bring a named lunch box with food for breaks. Meals provided by parents should be nutritionally balanced. Food and drinks should be low in fat and salt. Fresh fruit and vegetables should be used as much as possible. Liquids (water) will be available to the children at all times. We are a peanut free centre; this includes peanut butter and products containing peanuts. This is due to some children’s allergies.

Bottles of formula or milk provided for children under two must be previously prepared and labelled.

Sleeping & Rest Times

The Cat’s Pyjamas Preschool & Nursery provides all children with their own individualised linen. Babies’ individual sleeping patterns are retained. They sleep in cots with their own individualised bedding. The toddler children who have sleeps have their rest time after lunch on mattresses with their own bedding, however, they are able to sleep at any time of the day, whenever needed. During this time the children who do not need a sleep will participate in small group activities.

The sleeping areas in the nursery and the preschool are completely separate from the main areas of each school, ensuring undisturbed rest. All sleep areas are fully supervised at all times.
