Communication with Parents

The Cat’s Pyjamas Preschool & Nursery aims to make communication with parents as open, regular and informative as possible. We acknowledge that while parents are interested in all aspects of their child’s school, they are often restricted by time. Therefore, we have implemented a variety of communication methods:

Parent Notices & Your Child’s Family Pocket

Please read the notices and signs on entry to each of the three schools. Look out for upcoming events of interest and special requests.
Family Pocket: Each family has an information pocket. Notices, newsletters and accounts will be placed here for you to collect. These are located at the entrance of each school.

Notice Boards

Parent's notice boards are prominitely displayed in the entrance of the centre and at the entrances of each school. Displayed is general information for parents, information about the centre, the staff, policies, topics of interest and Early Childhood Regulations Education Review Office reports.

Daily Happenings Whiteboard & Slideshow System

Daily happenings are written on a whiteboard located at the entrance of the centre, to inform parents about the events of the day.

A slideshow system is available daily, with digital photo frames located next to the whiteboard in the main entrance area. Please watch to see the daily happenings in the schools, the activities and events your child has participated in, the celebrations that have occurred, the rich learning that has taken place and much more. It's a great way to be reassured that your child has been happy and achieving some great skills while being involved in the centres daily activities.

Daily Records

Children in the Nursery have a special daily record for you to take home. The aim of this record book is to provide a two-way communication between staff and parents, to keep you informed of your child’s daily activities and their personal achievements, as well as sleeps, food intake and nappy changes.

Parent Information Evenings

Parents are invited to six monthly information evenings to learn about what our educational programme entails and meet with their child's special teacher to discuss their child's development and progress. Information Evenings are not compulsory and we will endeavour to arrange a time after hours that suits everyone. It is also a great opportunity to meet other parents. If you wish to discuss any aspect of your child's preschool experiences, please contact your child's special teacher or the Head Teacher. Arrangements can be made at anytime.

Parent Education Evenings

Parent Education evenings will be held in terms two and three. These will be held via an educational topic of interest. An evening for parents provided by the centre to aid in parents supporting their child's learning and development.

Newsletters

Every quarter you will receive a newsletter informing you of all the exciting things your child has been doing, up coming educational workshops, social events, new resources purchased for the centre, staff development, and more. These will be placed in your family pocket.

Parent Library

The parent library is a good way to access relevant information that is related to the centre, perhaps in the way of policy and early childhood legislation; it may also contain articles of interest, specialist topic books, and other books of interest that may be able to be borrowed. The parent library can be accessed at reception.

Complaints & Suggestions

Should you have a concern regarding any aspect of your child’s care or education please talk directly with the teacher concerned, or feel free to contact the Director. Please place any suggestions or ideas for discussion to better our service to you in the suggestion box, located at reception.
